A lot of fisheries are now implementing a 1kg per 24 hours boilie rule to protect water quality, and to be fair, it makes sense. Too often, uneaten bait sits rotting on the lakebed for weeks, causing water issues like excess nitrates.

Boilies should be designed so that if they aren’t eaten within 2-3 days, they break down into dust, allowing smaller species to clear them up naturally. Would be a game-changer for fishery management! 🎣💭

We have all been in this situation where the rain has been relentlessly coming down for hours so do we hope that the rods don't scream off or brave the elements and love the fact that caught a fish but soaking wet?

Now with the temperature starting to reach a common 8° or above the fish are moving around and Grubbing in the silt and gravel looking for the little bugs and bloodworn.

This is why I try to always tip my baits with maggots.

When you release your Carp always make sure there fully recovered from the ordeal of being caught, weighed, lifted for photos.

Carp are very robust but if you see any bumps, scales missing please treat and report.

As many of us british are too aware we let our holiday mode kick in and over indulge with beer.

Last season I must of picked up over 1000 bottle tops from around the lake so maybe keep a bin bag in your swim at this lake.

Also remind anglers to take away any rubbish.

Sometimes the smaller fish blow you away with the patterns this carp is about 6-7 inches long but hopefully 10 years be a chunky old fish 🎣
